On killing consistently

(President Discusses Embryo Adoption and Ethical Stem Cell Research - The East Room - For Immediate Release - Office of the Press Secretary - May 24, 2005)

Pres. Bush: “I also recognize the grave moral issues at stake. So, in August 2000 first -- 2001, I set forward a policy to advance stem cell research in a responsible way by funding research on stem cell lines derived only from embryos that had already been destroyed. This policy set a clear standard: We should not use public money to support the further destruction of human life.”
(Applause.)

wait … back-up there, George.
“We should not use public money to support the further destruction of human life.”

Public Money ALWAYS has been used to ‘further destruction of human life’
Example:

US Military Aircraft

US Military Aircraft “equipment”

US Land Warfare Systems

US Navy Ships

US Navy Shipboard ‘systems’

I’m not saying that this funding isn’t necessary. What I’m saying is killing, is killing, is killing … however justified. Be consistent. In my eyes if you’re inconsistent in one argument, ALL your subsequent logic if flawed. My Opinion … (I’m sure it is the same with others)

Capital Punishment – kills
Abortion – kills
War – kills

The Ten Commandments –
Thou shall not kill (murder)

I really have issue with the hypocrisy of selective murder – where is one justified and another not?

I do not believe embryo harvesting is murder … they aren’t humans. With that logic sperm harvesting is murder. If that the case I’m very guilty of murder, many times over.
And I’m sure many self righteous republicans are too.

I applaud Senator Frisk MD.
If stem cell research has potential to save me or my family from Alzheimer’s … well, ok then. Rather spend the money here than on a new version of the stealth bomber, or a manned mission to Mars.
