podcast interruptus

Podcast interruptus

Ok, one of the most promising and innovative features of the Internet and portable sound and my 4-year-old can’t let me listen straight through nonstop, any show. Music, no problem, she’ll let me listen to hours of music on my iPod without interruption. But as soon as I click onto podcast of an NPR show or other recorded broadcast I enjoy listening to: one million interruptions.

Perhaps she interrupts about the same regardless. It’s most likely the case that I’m paying closer attention to the spoken word than when I’m listening to just music. Still, she’s plotting against me. I have other evidence too ….

When we’re playing Barbie’s, yes we play Barbie’s … you got a problem with that? She always hands me the ugly one, or the one that is a mermaid. How do you accessorize a fish anyway?

She’s 4 now. By the time she’s 14 she’ll own me.
