There are seven SOCIAL sins in the world:Wealth without work,
Pleasure without conscience,
Knowledge without character,
Commerce without morality,
Science without humanity,
Worship without sacrifice and
Politics without principle.
Mahatma Gandhi
Indian ascetic & nationalist leader (1869 - 1948)
Ghandi rocks.
ReplyDeleteTo me that is a bit over the top.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like areas where someone needs to grow, not an exhaustive list of sins.
Things like plotting murder, or giving false witness at a trial, now we are getting to sin.
Do you believe just because he was a great leader he was without sin?
That list of seven sounds like areas he may have had personal temptations.
oops sorry Allen, this was supposed to be the Seven Social Sins in the world ... I misquoted, great catch.
ReplyDeleteI would agree, murder and perjury would be sins, personal and social.
no, no one is without sin right?
And yes, I imagine these seven sins may have been challanges in Ghandi's own life. AND it is great of any man to learn from these temptations and contribute to the peace and happiness of the world by sharing them with us all.
