My daughter did something nutty tonight.
I’ve been doing fairly well raising a little girl on my own. With a 4-½ year old, I haven’t really had to face too many ‘real’ girl issues yet. But boy I’ve dealt with hair things. Ever since her mom passed away, I’ve been the bang cutter and ponytail groomer.
But tonight she twisted her hair up into the HUGEST matted wad of blonde fur I’ve ever seen on a human, or animal for that matter. I mean she knitted a sweater with her hair on top of her head. It took me 20 minutes to de-rastsfy it.
It was horrible. I'm going to have nightmares about this whole incident. There was so much hair tangled up that if I had cut it she would have been bald. I knew it was going to hurt her to get it out.
Fortunately only a handful of hair came out in my hand and the brush, but her hair is toast, all broken and fizzed out. Oh, I was horrified ... and ANGRY.
Why? She wanted a hair-do like her friend at pre-school - Twisting it up like her.
She knew what she did, she was sheepishly hiding behind the couch. I’m sure she felt it … it was the size of her own hand for gods sake
Her friend doesn't have a wad of matted hair on her head the last time I looked. She has normal kid hair.If you knew Addie’s hair ... YOU Can't twist it .. it's like so fine and thick... ugh!
Addie's hair is 'different'
She was so sad after I finally dug it apart. And it hurt.
She was sobbing at dinner, I had to stop eating because she needed a hug.
I mean it was BAD
I just wanted it OUT --- NOW
I don't know if I can sleep now. All I see is that golden hair all mangled and shredded and wadded up like some street mongrel
No worse .. like "Encino Man" ... "Quest for Fire" matted up caveman hair.
I never want to see her hair like that again.
I told her if she did it again she'd have to have boy hair cuts. Not a cute pixie cut either ... I'm talking GI Jane!
It can be short, green whatever ... but if she ever came home with Dreds! Aaaagh, I'd shave her head!
I can handle head lice ... and we don't allow gum in my house, so I hope to avoid that. But twisting our hair up like Lenny Kravitz NO!
I don't care ... if I find out she did that to her hair, like in college or something ... I will hire a hitman to shave her head.
