No Thank You Mr Roberto!

I’m heading into some big financing decisions and I wanted to access my credit situation. So I go to one of the big credit reporting companies online to order the ‘full package’, sure why not, seems like a good deal.
And I’m slightly annoyed and somewhat grateful that the process stops shy of completion to ask to call and confirm identity. Ok, I can handle that.
So I’m waiting on hold for a long time, assured that my call is very important. Finally a gentleman with a very thick accent “Roberto” answers, and we begin the process of ‘identifying’ me. Couple easy questions, name, etc … Previous address, 111 Blah blah drive.. “Oh so sorry sir, that shows as your current address” I need your previous address.
“NO, 123 Blah blah is my Current address.”
“Oh, no sir.. Incorrect, what is the address before that?”
“234 Blah Blah … “
“No no, sorry I don’t have this listed … here, is there another address in the same town you lived at?”
“888 Blah blah …”
“No, sorry … another one?”
“ Don’t remember another one ROBERTO!!!”
“Understand sir, also … [then he refers to something on my credit report itself] … what is the financial institute I am referring to, what is its name?”
Then I’m starting to get annoyed.
“Roberto, that’s why I want the report, to see what’s on THERE, I have no idea what you are referring to!”
“So sorry sir, do you have that address?”
“Forget it Roberto, CANCEL the order, and credit back the money I already paid”
“Ok sir, here is your cancellation and reason reference number”
“Thank you, so.. I will see this credit it to my account, won’t I?”
“Oh yes sir, within a couple days I’m sure” he continues, “sir would you be interested in our free credit newsletter, or alert report service?”
“No thank you Roberto, goodnight”

They will take my credit card number and charge me money before they identify me, but they don’t even have their records straight enough to match me up with what I want to see. These companies have WAY too much power.
