The Anti-Brahmin
He knows his former lives.
He sees heavens and states of woe,
has attained the ending of birth,
is a sage who has mastered full-knowing,
his mastery totally mastered:
he's what I calla brahmin
-Dhammapada 423, translated by Thanissaro Bhikkhu
I must be the anti-brahmin, I haven’t attained any of the above.
I don’t know my former life … unless we mean the last 40 years.
I don’t see heaven and states of woe … unless you mean the glitter of my daughter’s eye, and the woes of the war(s)™
Haven’t attained the ending of birth. As far as I know.
Definitely NOT an all-knowing sage.
I haven’t even identified my ‘mastery’ … let alone mastered it.
I am the anti-brahmin
