"the Beta Male (my own title for the guy you see on the street, too young to be Norman Fell too old to be Justin Timberlake - the guy that Johnny Depp is becoming, the man Bruce Willis is, not Dr. Phil nor a retired sports star, but the Beta Male, he who lurks in the corners of our national psyche, smart, assertive, slightly aged but no worse for wear)" - by Joe Dinki on Oct 1, 2003
The redefinition of a man, the beta male has been creeping into my life from all directions. My job; I've stepped down from my alpha sales position. I just ain't that kind of dog. At home I'm mister mom, kind of … at least for my daughter. Lately my philosophy is shifting. I don't want to be the football hero. I want to be Homer Simpson. Between my wife and I we've been talking about rolls, and how we've reversed some traditional ones. I've coming to terms with it rather quickly. I've always been a rank or two below alpha dog. I like it there. It's quiet. It's rewarding without the fanfare.
