Obama’s Speech on Racism, from Philly

Moving, so much so that I’m re-registering from independent to Democrat today . . .

I don’t make this gesture lightly. I really really (notice the redundant affirmation) feel that we (Americans) need this kind of inspirational leadership. I don’t care if Barack had no more experience than a scout master. It’s the ideas, the hope and yes the charisma that this nation needs. This country is depressed. We need a big ol’ Barack Obutrin pill to snap us out of our societal doldrums. We need something to look forward to, not cringe because of … Iraq, Sub Prime Mortgage, Exported Jobs, Greed (I’m lookin’ at you).

As one commenter on the NPR transcript mentions:

“How can we not elect this man? If he loses, we have lost such a
valuable opportunity as a democracy to transform politics as we know it.”

We can’t. If we miss this opportunity we stumble. We’ve been stumbling as a nation for 20 + years. It’s time for us to wake up, walk upright and get the work done that is necessary to move America closer to that ‘more perfect union’ our founding fathers elected us to do by slapping their names on all those pieces of parchment over two centuries ago.
