This is my last Thursday working for the glove company. After tomorrow I will no longer take part in distributing gloves around the world. For I will be working for the government. Yes. I will be a proud member of the Oregon Governmation Machine, serving the great state with pride and professionalism, and benefits. FTW!
I had a great time for 7.5 years here. I have learned quite a bit about purchasing, sales, inventory tracking and people here. I understand how an importing business is really at the whim of China. I understand that dentists are picky. I understand that restaurants are not picky. I understand that salespeople by nature, must lie to some extent everyday to everybody. I understand that people judge lies of omission as non-lies as the circumstances require. I understand ultimately it isn't about people, it's about people's money. But I'm not jaded or bitter. This is how the world has worked for thousands of years. Nothing new to learn here.
I guess I'm just really excited about change. This is a change year, if you haven't noticed. Some people fear change, some people just fear the word "change", and some people can't afford to spare any change at all. Change doesn't care. I just is. You don't have to believe in change, belief isn't a function of change. Change is going to happen and doesn't need your support. However, good change vs bad change, that is something we have a tiny bit of control over. This is good change, and I'm excited for 2009.
